Keeping in tune with 3rd grade's Rosie Revere Engineer project, 4th graders recently read the book Iggy Peck Architect, by Andrea Beaty. The story follows a young boy who sculpts and creates buildings and structures from every day objects. Students were asked to gain inspiration from Iggy, and to choose their own building to recreate.
Students chose from a variety of famous landmarks and buildings to create a design of their own. They were tasked with only using objects not normally found in structures (household objects, food, sports equipment, etc). and to redraw their chosen building only using those items. The results are superbly fantastical, and showcase the amazing creativity of these fourth graders. Bravo!
*Please note, quite a few students are still working on their pieces. Please check back in the next few weeks to see more finished products!*
