Kindergarten: Starry, Windy Nights

valaisae

As the Chicagoland area is hit with this blustery winter, Kindergarten took a cue from the Windy City and created their own versions of Van Gogh's The Starry Night. Starting off by looking at Van Gogh's creation, students discussed the movement and texture apparent in his work.

To begin, students were introduced to vibrant liquid watercolors to create their backgrounds. They were asked to utilize the idea of swirling wind to mimic the dynamic features of Van Gogh's work. Using small paintbrush strokes and circular patterns, the backgrounds demonstrate beautiful movement and vibrancy.

*Note: students are still currently working on this project, and updates to this post will be made soon! Thank you for your patience!*
